San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel abruptly ended a radio interview when the topic turned to his previous remarks blaming injuries for the team's NFC Championship defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In May, Samuel attributed the loss to rookie quarterback Brock Purdy's elbow injury sustained early in the game. During an appearance on CBS Sports Radio's "The Zach Gelb Show," Samuel initially confirmed his stance but quickly expressed his unwillingness to dwell on the past. When pressed further about the upcoming rematch with the Eagles in December and the potential reception he might face in Philadelphia, Samuel seemingly disconnected the call.
A representative for Samuel intervened, stating that Samuel was heading to training camp. Host Zach Gelb expressed his disbelief at Samuel's reaction to simple questions about the quarterback situation and the upcoming Eagles game.
The December 3rd rematch between the 49ers and the Eagles is expected to be a tense affair, rekindling the rivalry from the NFC Championship game.
