Just ten days into his term, Finland's Economy Minister, Vilhelm Junnila, has stepped down following accusations of repeated Nazi allusions. Junnila, a member of the nationalist Finns Party, stated his resignation was necessary "for the continuation of the government and the reputation of Finland." This follows a recent no-confidence vote he survived, stemming from campaign remarks where he congratulated a colleague on the candidate number 88, a number often associated with Nazi sympathizers.

During a March campaign event, Junnila reportedly referred to the number 88 as a "winning card" and cryptically alluded to its connection to two "H" letters. Though he later dismissed the comment as a poor joke and publicly condemned the Holocaust and antisemitism, further controversial material from 2019, including another instance of using "88" and promoting "climate abortions" in Africa, surfaced. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo supported Junnila's resignation as the "right and only possible decision."
