Harry and Meghan's Frogmore Cottage Departure Confirmed

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have officially moved out of Frogmore Cottage, their UK residence. This confirmation comes from the palace's annual Sovereign Grant report released on Thursday. The move comes as Prince Andrew is reportedly set to take over the property.

Located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, Frogmore Cottage underwent a $3.2 million renovation, a cost the couple fully reimbursed following their Netflix deal in 2020. Although they stepped back from royal duties and relocated to California, the couple had initially intended to keep Frogmore Cottage as their UK base. Now, their future accommodation arrangements for UK visits remain uncertain.

Prince Harry's recent solo trips to the UK, for King Charles' coronation and his court case against the Daily Mirror publisher, highlight this change. It is unknown where the Duke and Duchess will stay during future visits.

Since their departure from royal life in 2020, Harry and Meghan have offered explanations for their decision. Their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey brought forth accusations of racial bias within the royal family regarding their son's skin tone, and Meghan's struggles with suicidal thoughts due to media pressure. Further insights were shared in their 2022 Netflix docuseries and Prince Harry's memoir, "Spare," which delved into strained family relationships.
