UFC star Conor McGregor has addressed the incident involving Miami Heat mascot Burnie during Game 4 of the NBA Finals, characterizing it as a planned skit. In a recent interview, McGregor stated that he and the person inside the Burnie costume spoke after the event, and there are no hard feelings between them.

McGregor emphasized that the interaction was pre-arranged and part of the entertainment, stating, "It was a skit, and all is well. I spent a lot of time with him afterward, we talked it out, everything is great. It was all part of the show." During a timeout, McGregor delivered two punches to Burnie, who briefly required medical attention. The Heat organization later confirmed the individual received pain medication and rested at home.

The incident occurred as part of a promotional activity for a pain-relief spray. Burnie, wearing oversized boxing gloves and a fighter's robe, was playfully engaged with McGregor when the punches landed. Afterward, McGregor attempted to apply the pain-relief spray to the mascot before he was escorted off the court. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra praised the mascot performer's resilience, commenting on the "Miami Heat toughness" and the ability to "take a punch and get back out there."

McGregor's appearance at the game was tied to the promotion of the pain relief product.
