The bodybuilding community is mourning the loss of 20-year-old Jodi Vance, who tragically passed away from a heart attack in Columbus, Ohio, last Thursday. Vance was attending the Arnold Sports Festival, not as a competitor, but as a coach, according to reports.

A statement posted on Vance's Instagram account by her family attributed the heart attack to severe dehydration. The post urged followers to prioritize their health and expressed the family's profound grief. Vance's coach, Justin Mihaly, later shared a video on his own Instagram account alleging that Vance's dehydration was a result of using "extremely hazardous substances" without his or her family's knowledge or consent, presumably in preparation for the Arnold Expo.
Mihaly stated he had permission from Vance's mother to share the video and invited those who felt inclined to direct their blame towards him. Vance had recently achieved a third-place finish in the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas Women's Physique division and actively used her social media presence to document her fitness journey and inspire others.
