Former Marine and Fox News contributor Joey Jones recently discussed on 'Fox & Friends Weekends' the criticism Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin has received for using inaccurate data in an article criticizing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Rubin's piece, published on Friday, centered around migration statistics that had already been corrected by their original source, Business Insider, days earlier.
Rubin's column incorrectly stated that more people moved out of Florida than any other state in 2021, citing figures that Business Insider had retracted on Tuesday after DeSantis spokesperson Christina Pushaw and others highlighted the error. The original Business Insider article had mistakenly flipped the numbers, reporting outbound migration as inbound. The corrected version confirmed Florida had a significant net population gain.

Despite the readily available corrected information, Rubin's column went live with the debunked data, prompting a correction from the Washington Post on Saturday. The correction acknowledged the mischaracterization of Florida's migration figures.
This incident has sparked considerable online backlash, with commentators like Charles Cooke of the National Review and Ian Miller of Outkick.com criticizing both Rubin and the Washington Post for the oversight. Cooke questioned the Post's fact-checking process, while Miller accused Rubin and the Post of intentionally misrepresenting the data to damage DeSantis's image.

The incident has raised questions about journalistic standards and the potential for bias in reporting. Fox News Digital has contacted the Washington Post for comment but has not yet received a response.
