Biden Administration Embarks on Cross-Country Tour to Promote Economic Policies

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Amid persistent public disapproval of their economic strategies, President Biden and key members of his administration are embarking on a nationwide tour to highlight what they term "Bidenomics." The President will visit South Carolina to unveil new investments in clean energy manufacturing, while Vice President Harris will travel to Arizona's Gila River Indian Reservation to showcase infrastructure law spending targeted at Native American communities.

Several cabinet secretaries will also participate in the initiative. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will be in Washington, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra in Ohio, and Interior Secretary Debra Haaland in New York. These officials will underscore the administration's achievements, emphasizing legislative wins such as the infrastructure law and the Inflation Reduction Act. They will also point to significant job growth under President Biden's leadership, though this claim has been challenged by Republicans who attribute the increase to post-pandemic recovery.

The White House views this tour as a crucial opportunity to communicate its economic progress to the American people. Communications Director Ben LaBolt stressed the ongoing focus on "Bidenomics," highlighting the administration's efforts to invest in domestic initiatives and boost competition to lower costs for families. Additional trips are planned for Friday, with cabinet members continuing their outreach efforts.

This promotional tour coincides with Republican criticism linking "Bidenomics" to economic hardship. Former President Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have both voiced strong opposition, associating the term with increased living costs, burdensome regulations, and detrimental international agreements. They argue that "Bidenomics" has negatively impacted American families and businesses.

Despite a recent improvement, President Biden's disapproval rating on economic matters remains high, according to a June Fox News poll. This cross-country campaign aims to address these concerns and reshape public perception of the administration's economic performance. The administration will be highlighting the drop in inflation from its peak of 9.1% in June 2022 to under 4% currently.
