Brad Calipari, the 26-year-old son of renowned Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, is embarking on his own coaching journey within the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He's been appointed as the Director of On-Court Player Development for the Vanderbilt Commodores, as announced by head coach Jerry Stackhouse.

Stackhouse praised the younger Calipari, highlighting his skills and potential. "Brad brings a wealth of basketball knowledge, infectious energy, and excellent communication skills," Stackhouse remarked. "We're thrilled about the value he will add to our student-athletes and coaching staff."

This move brings Brad Calipari back to the SEC, albeit in a different capacity and with a different team than his father's Wildcats. Last season, he served as the Director of Player Development at Long Island University in Brooklyn. Prior to that, he gained valuable experience as a graduate assistant under his father at Kentucky, earning a master's certificate in sports kinesiology in 2022.

Calipari's playing career included two seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats before transferring to Detroit Mercy, where he completed his collegiate playing days in 2021 and earned a master's degree in liberal arts that same year. His experience as both a player and in player development roles positions him well for this new chapter at Vanderbilt.
