Following Leeds United's relegation from the Premier League, American midfielder Brenden Aaronson will spend the upcoming season on loan at Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga. The season-long loan agreement sees the 22-year-old join a club making its first foray into the Champions League.

Aaronson's move to Germany comes after a challenging season with Leeds, where he made 36 Premier League appearances following a £25 million (approximately $32 million) transfer from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2022. Across all competitions, he netted one goal in 40 appearances for the club.

Aaronson joins his brother, Paxten, who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt, in Germany's top-tier league. He is the third Leeds player to secure a season-long loan after the club's relegation, with Diego Llorente and Robin Koch having previously joined Roma and Eintracht Frankfurt, respectively.

Under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Daniel Farke, formerly of Norwich City, Leeds United aims to make a swift return to the Premier League.
