Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch emphasized Fox News Channel's consistent outperformance of major broadcast networks during a recent investor conference. He attributed this success to the network's compelling content, strong journalism, and dedicated viewership. Murdoch highlighted the deep loyalty of Fox News viewers, describing the network as more than just a news source, but rather a key platform resonating with their values.
He pointed out that in January and February 2025, Fox News ranked as the second most-watched broadcast network, surpassing all but one major network in each month, despite having a smaller cable reach. Murdoch linked this strong viewership to the network's robust revenue growth.
Addressing questions about whether Fox News is reacting to perceived political shifts, Murdoch denied any such adjustments, stating the network's consistent focus on delivering news relevant to its audience. He suggested that the recent election results have, in fact, affirmed Fox News' position, leading to a surge in advertising revenue with over 100 new clients. Murdoch emphasized that these advertisers recognize the network's viewers as representative of middle America.
He further highlighted Fox News' long-standing dominance in cable news, holding the top spot for 23 consecutive years and achieving a remarkable 65% share of the cable news audience. This success extends to digital platforms as well, with Fox News Digital outperforming all other news brands. The network's continued strong performance into 2025 underscores its enduring appeal and reach.
