Civil unrest continues to disrupt travel in France, with ongoing protests, airport strikes, and safety concerns impacting visitors. Following the police shooting of a teenager, widespread demonstrations and riots have broken out across the country, prompting the deployment of 40,000 police officers. These events follow months of protests related to various issues, including retirement age reforms, climate change, and police brutality.

Adding to the travel complications, air traffic controllers at Beauvais Airport, a hub for budget airlines like Ryanair, initiated a strike on Thursday, leading to flight cancellations. While major airports like Charles de Gaulle and Orly remain unaffected for now, travelers are advised to stay informed about potential disruptions.

The U.S. State Department has issued a Level 2 travel advisory for France, urging increased caution due to terrorism and civil unrest. The advisory highlights the potential for demonstrations to disrupt transportation and occasionally turn violent. Travelers are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for updates and alerts.
