Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed an immigration detainer on Lopez-Martinez, a measure designed to prevent his release back into the community even if he manages to post bail. This detainer requires local law enforcement to notify ICE prior to releasing individuals suspected of being in the country illegally, allowing ICE agents to take them into custody.
