Manning Family Legacy Extends Beyond Football with Children's Hospital Renaming

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

The Manning family's impact on New Orleans transcends their football achievements. Fifty-four years after Archie Manning joined the Saints, the family's contributions to the community are being recognized with the renaming of Children's Hospital New Orleans to Manning Family Children's Hospital. This honor celebrates their enduring dedication to the well-being of children.

During the Louisiana Legacy Gala, Cooper Manning highlighted the hospital's significance, sharing anecdotes about his sons, Arch and Heid Manning's experiences. He emphasized the hospital's role in the community and the family's personal connection to its mission of never turning a child away. Cooper fondly recalled Arch's visits for stitches and the family's observations of the hospital's helicopter transporting young patients.

The Louisiana Legacy event also honored Archie and Olivia Manning with the inaugural Louisiana Legacy Award. Raising Cane’s founder, Todd Graves, a New Orleans native, donated $1 million to the hospital's Walker’s Imaginarium, a pioneering interactive children's museum named in memory of Walker Beery, who battled brain cancer. Graves praised Archie Manning as a role model and underscored the hospital's invaluable service to the community, providing top-tier care to children regardless of their financial circumstances.

Archie Manning expressed his family's profound gratitude for the hospital renaming, describing it as one of the greatest honors of his life, surpassing even his football accomplishments. He compared it to the dedications of the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis and the Eli Manning Children's Clinics in Jackson, Mississippi, emphasizing that this recognition represents the family's proudest moment.
