Hunter Biden has reached a settlement in the Arkansas child support case involving Lunden Alexis Roberts, the mother of his 4-year-old daughter. The agreement includes an undisclosed amount of financial support and a unique provision involving Biden's artwork.
The settlement concludes a protracted legal battle over the child, whom President Biden and the first lady have not publicly acknowledged as their grandchild. Roberts, a former dancer at a Washington, D.C. club, had a brief relationship with Hunter Biden approximately five years ago, resulting in the child's birth in August 2018.

Under the terms of the settlement, Hunter Biden will provide his daughter with a selection of his paintings, with a minimum size of 24x24 inches. The child can choose to keep the artwork or sell it, with the proceeds going to an account designated by Roberts. The agreement also stipulates monthly payments to Roberts, commencing July 1, 2023, and continuing until the child turns 18, marries, or passes away. The exact amount of the payments is redacted in court documents. Furthermore, Biden and Roberts are expected to discuss establishing a college fund for the child within the next five years.
Significantly, Roberts withdrew her request to change the child's last name to Biden. This request had been a point of contention, with Roberts' attorneys arguing that the Biden name carries significant weight in terms of education, success, and political influence. Hunter Biden's legal team had challenged this assertion, demanding justification for the name change.

A 2020 DNA test confirmed Hunter Biden's paternity. While a previous agreement regarding child support was in place, the case was reopened when Biden sought adjustments to the payments. At the time Roberts became pregnant, Hunter Biden was reportedly earning a substantial income as a board member of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company.

This settlement comes as Hunter Biden faces other legal challenges, including a civil defamation case.
