In a remarkable display of solidarity, twelve Los Angeles and Anaheim sports organizations have pledged over $8 million in aid to victims of the recent devastating wildfires. The Anaheim Ducks, Angel City FC, LAFC, LA Galaxy, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Rams, and Los Angeles Sparks joined forces to announce this substantial contribution.

The funds will be distributed among various organizations actively involved in firefighting efforts and victim support. Beneficiaries include the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation Wildlife Recovery Fund, Team Rubicon, and several local animal rescue groups.

Beyond monetary aid, approximately $3 million worth of Fanatics merchandise will be provided to displaced residents. This collaborative effort between the teams, their foundations, Fanatics, and the Fanatics Foundation will offer much-needed clothing and supplies. Distribution events are scheduled for January 17th at Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium, and BMO Stadium.

The wildfires have caused widespread destruction, claiming lives and damaging thousands of structures. The impact has also extended to the sports world, resulting in game cancellations and relocations. The Rams' playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings was moved to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, while a Lakers game was postponed last week. The Lakers have dedicated Monday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs to the Los Angeles community.

Lakers head coach J.J. Redick emphasized the team's commitment to Los Angeles, stating their dedication to providing support during this challenging time. Despite these efforts, officials warn that the danger is not yet over, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance as strong winds persist.

Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley highlighted the ongoing risk and the city's proactive measures, including maximizing resources, pre-positioning response teams, and fully staffing the LAFD. These preparations aim to ensure a swift response to any new fire outbreaks.
