Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick's family home fell victim to the destructive wildfires sweeping through Southern California. Redick was in Dallas for a game when the fires began and his family was forced to evacuate. He recounted the experience of returning to the Palisades area to witness the devastation firsthand.

Redick expressed relief that his wife and children were safe, having escaped the fire's path early on. He described the scene upon his return as "complete devastation and destruction," admitting he wasn't prepared for the scale of the damage. The family had been renting a home in the area while deciding on a permanent location, and nearly two decades' worth of belongings were lost.

Redick poignantly shared the emotional impact of losing their home and irreplaceable possessions accumulated over 20 years of marriage and a decade of raising children. He acknowledged the material losses but emphasized the profound emotional toll of such an event. The wildfires have caused widespread destruction, claiming lives, destroying thousands of buildings, and burning vast acres of land. The Monday night Vikings-Rams NFL playoff game was relocated from Inglewood to Arizona due to the fires.
