While basketball enthusiasts eagerly await the selection of top prospects like Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson in the 2023 NBA Draft, a unique contender emerged from an unexpected field: law. Jordan Haber, a Florida law student, launched a campaign on TikTok to enter the draft despite lacking any traditional basketball experience.
Haber, who hasn't played college basketball at any level, found himself on the NBA's 'B List' – a category for "unknown individuals." During an appearance on "Fox & Friends," Haber explained the process, stating that eligible individuals who meet specific age and graduation requirements can simply submit the necessary paperwork.
Haber is among 18 individuals on the B List. While he hasn't received official contact from any teams, he has garnered attention on social media, with some team accounts interacting with his posts. Haber expressed his hope to collaborate with a team to contribute to youth sports.
This unconventional approach to entering the NBA Draft isn't entirely unprecedented. Reinhard Schmuck, who briefly played Division III college basketball, attempted a similar feat in 1987, aiming to raise awareness for his school's athletic programs.
