Backwater Foie Gras, a Louisiana farm, has experienced significant backlash following a social media post by owner Ross McKnight. The post, which commemorated the Catholic celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, also referenced Pride Month as an "attempted coup of the month" and suggested "antidotes to a false pride." This sparked controversy and led to a substantial loss of business for the small, family-run farm.
McKnight, a father of five, expressed surprise at the intensity of the reaction, stating that he has always been open about his faith. He appeared on "Fox & Friends Weekend" to discuss the situation, suggesting the backlash felt like a "concerted effort." The farm has lost two-thirds of its restaurant business, placing a significant financial strain on the family. Despite the hardship, McKnight expressed unwavering faith and confidence in the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart of Mary, stating, "We're not worried...we know we will be taken care of regardless of what that looks like."
He also shared a message for other Christian Americans facing challenges to their beliefs, emphasizing the importance of standing firm in their faith. "If we're fighting a battle, there's no ground behind this particular battle...So this is where we have to stand...once this battle is over, and we lose, if it is that we do lose, then there's nothing else behind it. So we have to fight."
