Following the discovery of a missing 14-year-old girl within the barracks at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base in California, the Marine who was detained for questioning has been returned to his unit. The Marine, assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 5, 1st Marine Logistics Group, was questioned by the Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS) in connection with the incident. The teenager had been reported missing two weeks prior by her grandmother in San Diego. While the investigation continues, no arrests or charges have been filed. Authorities have not disclosed how the girl ended up on the base or any potential connection to the Marine. The girl has been reunited with her grandmother. The NCIS, with support from the San Diego Sheriff's Department and the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force, is leading the investigation. Further details about the Marine involved, including age and rank, have not been released.
