A devastating fire ripped through a Milan nursing home in the early hours of Friday, tragically claiming the lives of six residents and leaving approximately 80 others injured. The blaze ignited around 1:30 a.m., seemingly originating in the room of two female residents who perished in the inferno. Four other individuals, a man and three women, also lost their lives.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, battling the flames and providing medical assistance to the injured. Two individuals sustained critical injuries, while the majority of those affected were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was brought under control by early morning, and an investigation into the cause is currently underway, led by firefighters.

Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala addressed reporters at the scene, confirming that roughly 100 residents who escaped unharmed were being relocated to other facilities within the city. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing residents trapped inside the burning building, pressing cloths to their faces in a desperate attempt to shield themselves from the smoke. Reports indicate that a significant number of the nursing home's residents suffer from Alzheimer's disease, adding another layer of complexity to the tragic event.
