Joining a growing number of states, New Hampshire has officially prohibited state contracts and investments with businesses that participate in boycotts against Israel and its trading partners. Governor Chris Sununu signed the executive order on Thursday, making New Hampshire the 37th state to implement such a measure, according to the Israeli-American Coalition for Action. The coalition's chairman, Shawn Evenhaim, commended Governor Sununu for taking a stand against what he described as "national origin discrimination" and for upholding the strong cultural and economic connections between New Hampshire and Israel.

The order has drawn criticism from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a prominent Muslim civil rights and advocacy group. CAIR has challenged similar laws in other states and argues that the order infringes upon First Amendment rights. Gadeir Abbas, senior litigation attorney for CAIR, stated that the government cannot dictate how Americans spend their money or which entities they choose to support financially. He emphasized that boycotts are a long-standing element of American political expression and that any state order attempting to restrict this right is illegitimate.
Ambassador Gilad Erdan, Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, was present at the signing ceremony with Governor Sununu.
