A 60-year-old Ohio man, Jonathan Eric Link, has been apprehended in Centerville for the murder of his girlfriend, Shannon Anderson, whose remains were found in rural Ross County in 2001, almost 25 years after the crime. Link initially reported Anderson missing in July 2001, just weeks before her body was discovered.

Montgomery County Prosecutor, Mat Heck Jr., expressed relief that the alleged perpetrator will finally face justice after nearly a quarter of a century. Despite an initial investigation that led to the discovery of Anderson's abandoned car at the Atlanta Airport parking lot, a 2002 grand jury found insufficient evidence to indict Link.
The case remained unresolved until recently when the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit (TCSU) and other law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service, joined forces with the Kettering Police Department's cold case detectives to reexamine the evidence. Through new interviews with witnesses and advanced digital forensic testing, investigators were able to build a stronger case.

This renewed investigation resulted in a second grand jury indictment against Link on two counts of murder. He is scheduled for arraignment on January 28th. Prosecutor Heck commended the collaborative efforts of the various agencies involved in revitalizing the investigation and bringing it to a point where charges could be filed.

This case marks a significant victory for law enforcement and brings a sense of closure to a decades-long unresolved tragedy.
