Pro-Life Activist Bevelyn Beatty Williams Speaks Out After Trump Pardon

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Bevelyn Beatty Williams, a prominent anti-abortion advocate, recently shared her experience of incarceration and subsequent pardon by former President Donald Trump with Fox News Digital. Williams, who served time for protesting outside an abortion clinic, expressed her surprise and gratitude for the pardon, stating that it's something she's "still trying to register."

Trump pardoned 23 anti-abortion activists convicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, a law prohibiting the use of force against those seeking reproductive healthcare services. Williams' conviction stemmed from a 2020 incident outside a Manhattan Planned Parenthood where she was accused of injuring a clinic worker's hand while protesting. The U.S. Attorney's office described Williams' actions as threatening and forceful, alleging she blocked access to the clinic. Williams, however, maintains she was exercising her First Amendment rights.

Williams, the president and co-founder of At the Well Ministries, explained her shift to anti-abortion advocacy. She revealed her past experiences with abortion and credited former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's legalization of late-term abortion as a catalyst for her change in perspective. She described the law as a turning point, leading her to view abortion as "murder" and a "torture for convenience."

Williams' 41-month sentence deeply affected her family, particularly her husband. She recounted his distress and the impact of her absence on her young daughter. Now reunited, Williams emphasized the noticeable difference in her daughter's happiness. Looking ahead, Williams expressed her commitment to continuing her advocacy, though she believes her approach may evolve. She suggested a shift towards fostering communication and dialogue, recognizing the current climate as a time for "reasonable" conversations on previously contentious topics.
