During cold and flu season, many seek comfort in warm beverages like tea. One popular Starbucks concoction, known as the "medicine ball" or officially as "honey citrus mint tea," has gained a reputation for its soothing qualities. This blend of green tea, chamomile, spearmint, lemonade, and honey offers a comforting flavor profile.
However, the store-bought version contains a significant amount of sugar, with a grande size packing 30 grams. Registered dietitian and nutritionist Kelsey Kunik offers a healthier homemade alternative, allowing for greater control over ingredients and sugar content. Her recipe incorporates green tea for its antioxidants, peppermint tea for sinus relief, and honey as a natural cough suppressant.

Kunik suggests using light lemonade or fresh lemon juice in hot water to reduce sugar intake. Her recipe provides a flavorful and potentially beneficial beverage to combat winter ailments.

Tea's antioxidants can support the immune system, while honey provides soothing relief for coughs and sore throats. Making this tea at home allows you to customize the sweetness and ingredients to your liking.
