Following the disappearance of Texas realtor Suzanne Simpson over two months ago, her husband, Brad Simpson, appeared in a San Antonio courtroom on December 9, 2024. He faces multiple felony charges, including murder, after a grand jury indictment linked him to his wife's suspected death. Authorities believe they found Suzanne's DNA on a reciprocating saw allegedly concealed by Brad.
The 53-year-old suspect faces two first-degree felony charges: murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury to a family member. These charges could result in a life sentence. Additional charges include tampering with a corpse, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The indictment alleges that Brad Simpson concealed a reciprocating saw on October 8, two days after Suzanne's disappearance. This saw, often used for demolition, can cut through various materials, including wood, plastic, and metal. Authorities reportedly informed family members that Suzanne's DNA was found on the saw.
Suzanne, 51, vanished on October 6 after a reported altercation with her husband outside their Olmos Park home in the San Antonio area. Although her body hasn't been found, authorities believe Brad Simpson caused her death on or around that day. A neighbor witnessed the alleged assault and later heard screams from nearby woods. The couple's five-year-old child reportedly told a school counselor about the fight and alleged physical violence.
Investigators tracked Brad Simpson's movements after Suzanne's disappearance, noting suspicious activities such as turning off his phone, transporting unusual items in his truck, visiting a dump site, and thoroughly cleaning his vehicle. Legal experts consider the circumstantial evidence against him to be substantial.
The indictments detail the alleged method of murder and subsequent actions, including the use of a deadly weapon. They also accuse Brad Simpson of tampering with a human corpse to obstruct the investigation.
Brad Simpson's attorney, Steven Gilmore, filed a motion to dismiss the indictments, citing vagueness in the charges. Simpson remains in Bexar County jail, with his next court appearance scheduled for December 19.
