A joyous birthday celebration in Northern California turned into a scene of tragedy early Sunday morning when gunfire erupted, claiming the life of an 18-year-old woman and leaving six others injured. The Antioch Police Department responded to a flurry of 911 calls shortly before 1 a.m., reporting a shooting at a residential birthday party.
The party, held for a 19-year-old man, was disrupted by the arrival of uninvited guests, leading to an altercation and ultimately, the discharge of multiple firearms. The incident unfolded in Antioch, a city situated approximately 45 miles northeast of San Francisco.

Upon arrival, police officers encountered a chaotic scene with numerous victims and a large crowd gathered outside the residence. The 18-year-old female victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries. Six other individuals, ranging in age from 18 to 20, also sustained injuries, though thankfully, none were considered life-threatening. Two 19-year-old men, two 19-year-old women, and two 20-year-old women were among those injured.
In the ensuing panic, many partygoers fled the scene in various directions, some transporting themselves to local hospitals. This chaotic dispersal complicated the initial investigation, as authorities worked to piece together the events and locate all those involved.
Antioch police confirmed that the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
