Two-time Olympian Ana José Tima has been handed a three-year suspension from athletics competition following a positive doping test, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced. The ban effectively removes all of José Tima's results from January 2022 onwards, including her 10th-place finish at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

The 33-year-old athlete representing the Dominican Republic will be ineligible to compete until January 2025. The AIU confirmed that her initial four-year ban was reduced by one year due to her admission of the doping offense.

José Tima's positive test, which took place in her home country last November, revealed the presence of ostarine and GW501516. Ostarine is known for its muscle-building properties, similar to anabolic steroids. GW501516, on the other hand, was abandoned in clinical trials over a decade ago due to safety concerns.

José Tima competed in the triple jump at both the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but did not qualify for the finals in either event.
