Comedian Amy Schumer revisited Hilaria Baldwin's Spanish heritage scandal during her recent Netflix special, "Emergency Contact." Schumer playfully jabbed at her husband throughout the show but emphasized his unwavering support. Turning her attention to Baldwin, Schumer questioned the audience's familiarity with her, jokingly apologizing for mispronouncing her name before adopting a Spanish accent.
Born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas in Boston, the former yoga instructor faced accusations of exaggerating her Spanish background after online revelations in 2020. Schumer expressed her bewilderment over the situation, identifying Baldwin as Alec Baldwin's wife for those unfamiliar. She recounted a previous encounter backstage at "Saturday Night Live," humorously declining an introduction from Alec due to Baldwin's striking resemblance to a "Disney princess" compared to her own self-deprecating comparison to Ben Roethlisberger.

Schumer recalled Baldwin's pronounced Spanish accent, referencing the infamous "cucumber" incident on "The Today Show." She highlighted the numerous children Baldwin and Alec share, noting their Spanish-inspired names. Schumer emphasized the absurdity of the situation, given Baldwin's Bostonian roots and her parents' lack of Spanish heritage, even going so far as to joke about their Mayflower ancestry.

Baldwin previously claimed to be born in Mallorca, Spain, but later admitted to being raised in Boston. In a 2020 podcast, she stated she moved to the U.S. at 19 to attend NYU. Schumer playfully suggested Baldwin's deep affection for Spain led her to adopt the persona, mimicking a Spanish accent and jokingly declaring her own intention to claim a fictional origin. She then quipped about her driver's license listing Splash Mountain as her birthplace.

Connecting the narrative to Alec Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter charges in the "Rust" shooting incident (later dropped), Schumer pointed out the couple's seeming indifference. She concluded her bit by advising the audience to "find someone who can stand you."
