Lattimore, a four-time Pro Bowler acquired mid-season from the New Orleans Saints, had appeared in two regular season games for Washington, recording three pass breakups. Known for his intense competitiveness and history of on-field confrontations, particularly with Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans during his tenure with the Saints, Lattimore's clash with Brown added fuel to the already intense rivalry between the Eagles and Commanders.
