A California resident, David Jonathan Margoliash, 48, faces serious charges following a string of disturbing incidents in San Rafael. He's accused of breaking into a home, assaulting a pregnant woman and her husband, and attempting to kidnap a resident from a nursing facility.

The home invasion occurred around 1 a.m. on a Saturday. Margoliash allegedly entered the residence on Ross Street through the back door. The startled wife awoke to find him in her living room. After she screamed, alerting her husband, Margoliash allegedly attacked her with a flashlight, causing minor injuries. Her husband intervened, struggling with Margoliash and ultimately pushing him down a flight of stairs. During the altercation, Margoliash reportedly bit the husband's hand. Both victims received medical treatment at a local hospital.
A few hours later, around 5:18 a.m., police received a call from a skilled nursing facility. Margoliash had reportedly tried to take an elderly patient, posing as a transport service employee. However, staff became suspicious when he couldn't provide proper credentials. They prevented him from taking the patient, but he left the facility. Alert nurses followed him and notified a nearby officer, who apprehended Margoliash.

Margoliash is now facing charges of felony burglary, felony assault with a deadly weapon, and felony attempted kidnapping. He is being held without bail in Marin County Jail. Police say he confessed to both the home invasion and the attempted kidnapping. This isn't Margoliash's first brush with the law. He has an extensive criminal record, including a pending sentencing for pepper-spraying a mosque member earlier this year.
