Russell, 25, vanished on July 13 after reporting a toddler wandering alone on Interstate 459 South near Birmingham, Alabama. Newly released audio from the 911 call reveals that Russell assured the dispatcher she would remain on the scene until officers arrived.

However, according to Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis, data from Russell's Life360 app shows her vehicle moving the equivalent of six football fields – 600 yards – during the call. This detail has raised eyebrows, with former Washington, D.C., homicide detective Ted Williams questioning how a small child could have covered such a distance in such a short time. "That child would have had to have been an Olympic runner," Williams remarked, highlighting the seeming impossibility of the situation.

When police arrived at the location, Russell was gone, leaving behind her running vehicle and personal belongings. Her return home two days later only deepened the mystery. After her reappearance, she was briefly hospitalized and then released.

Police Chief Derzis revealed that Russell had searched for information on Amber Alerts, how to steal money from a cash register, and even the movie "Taken," a film about a kidnapping. Both Williams and former FBI Special Agent Jonathan Gilliam believe that Russell should face charges if it's determined she fabricated the story.
