Chargers Donate to Wildfire Relief, Organize Supply Drive Amidst LA Crisis

Created: JANUARY 26, 2025

As wildfires continue to impact the Los Angeles region, the Los Angeles Chargers are stepping up to provide support. The team announced a $200,000 donation to various organizations, including the American Red Cross, LA Fire Department Foundation, Team Rubicon, and animal shelters caring for displaced pets.

In addition to the financial contribution, the Chargers are encouraging fans to participate in "Charge Up to Playoff" events. The team's watch party at Hermosa Beach Pier on Saturday will double as a supply drive for evacuation centers, including El Camino Real High School. Needed items include blankets, bottled water, clothing, first aid kits, and other essential supplies.

While the Chargers are actively involved in relief efforts, they are also preparing for their upcoming wild-card game against the Houston Texans. Although their home stadium, SoFi Stadium, experienced poor air quality, the team adjusted practice schedules to minimize players' exposure to the hazardous conditions. The NFL is closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on the scheduled Monday night game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings at SoFi Stadium.

This isn't the first time the Chargers have shown their commitment to helping those in need. They have a track record of supporting various causes, including donating proceeds from 50/50 raffles to fire relief efforts in Ventura County and contributing to relief funds for the Maui fires and Hurricane Harvey.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has requested assistance from off-duty firefighters, as thousands are already working tirelessly to contain the wildfires. The challenging weather conditions, including strong winds, have hampered efforts to combat the fires from the air.
