Donald Bobbitt, president of the University of Arkansas System, has secured a two-year contract extension following a unanimous vote by the system's Board of Trustees. The new agreement, effective at the end of 2023, maintains Bobbitt's current base salary of $510,000, plus deferred compensation, without any increase. The deal includes provisions allowing for termination with 90 days' notice from the board or six months' notice from Bobbitt.

While expressing gratitude for the board's confidence, Bobbitt acknowledged recent controversies surrounding his leadership, including the handling of a potential affiliation with the University of Phoenix and the search for a new chancellor at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Despite these challenges, Bobbitt emphasized the positive feedback he has received. The contract extension also confirms Bobbitt's tenured professorship in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, providing him with a potential future role within the university system.
