Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a virtual security assessment with high-ranking officials, including the defense minister, strategic affairs minister, and heads of intelligence and security agencies, to analyze the operation and formulate potential responses, including preparations for possible rocket fire from Gaza.

Jenin has become a focal point for Palestinian militant activity, with Iranian-backed groups launching attacks from the city into Israel. Throughout 2023, the region has witnessed numerous clashes, with Israeli forces conducting targeted operations against individuals and strongholds.

In a recent incident in late June, Israeli forces demolished the home of a Palestinian suspect connected to the killing of an Israeli soldier last year. This individual, along with another suspect apprehended in February, was allegedly involved in the drive-by shooting death of Staff Sgt. Ido Baruch. The second suspect's home was demolished earlier this month. A Palestinian militant group known as the Den of Lions claimed responsibility for the attack.
