María Concepción Martínez Rodríguez, a migrant activist in Torreón, notes that the fortified border has deterred many from attempting to cross. She observes a substantial change in the migrant flow, with some shelters experiencing a complete absence of individuals seeking refuge.

Since his return, President Trump has swiftly implemented measures to address illegal immigration and bolster border security. These actions include restarting border wall construction, deploying military personnel to the border, intensifying ICE enforcement operations, and classifying certain migrant gangs as terrorist organizations.

Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, highlighted the administration's rapid success, citing a dramatic reduction in daily encounters with migrants compared to peak numbers under the previous administration.
