Created: JANUARY 26, 2025

Newly released body camera footage from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) provides a chilling look at the immediate aftermath of the devastating New Year's Day terrorist attack on Bourbon Street. The attack, which claimed the lives of 15 people, including the perpetrator, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, unfolded in the early hours of January 1st.

An NOPD officer responds to the New Year's Day terrorist attack on Bourbon Street, captured by bodycam footage.

The footage, obtained by Fox News Digital through a public records request, depicts officers approaching Jabbar's rented white Ford-150 truck, which he used to plow through the crowded street. As officers converge on the vehicle, Jabbar opens fire from beneath a deployed airbag. The brief but intense 13-second clip captures the exchange of gunfire.

According to an NOPD press release, three officers – Sergeant Nigel Daggs and Officers Christian Beyer and Jacobie Jordan – returned fire, fatally wounding Jabbar. In the crossfire, Officer Jordan and Officer Joseph Rodrigue (who did not discharge his weapon) were struck in the thigh. Officer Rodrigue also suffered a fractured shoulder. Both injured officers were hospitalized but have since been released. All officers involved have been placed on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
