Despite being 30 weeks pregnant, professional golfer Amy Olson couldn't pass up the opportunity to compete in the 2023 Women's U.S. Open at the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links. Olson acknowledged the added challenge of competing in a major championship while in her third trimester, but the chance to play at such a prestigious course was too enticing to resist.

Olson discussed her pregnancy journey with ESPN, revealing that she consulted with fellow LPGA players who had competed while pregnant. They advised her that around 30 weeks was typically the limit, which coincided with the U.S. Open. Determined, Olson set her sights on qualifying for the tournament.

She successfully secured her spot at Pebble Beach by carding rounds of 72 and 66 at the U.S. Open qualifier in Minnesota back in May. This season, she has participated in only three LPGA Tour events, with her best finish being a tie for 61st at the Lotte Championship in April. Olson candidly admitted that her swing has been fluctuating daily due to her pregnancy, adding another layer of complexity to her preparations.

Amidst the physical changes and swing adjustments, Olson maintains a positive outlook and a sense of humor. She joked about her increased appetite and revealed that Pebble Beach has agreed to provide her with freshly made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, replacing the pre-packaged snacks initially offered.

Olson's husband, North Dakota State football coach Grant Olson, expressed immense pride in his wife's determination and resilience. He shared that while he's accustomed to her impressive golf skills, others who understand the sport are truly amazed by her dedication to compete at such a high level while pregnant.
