Newly elected Congressman Gabe Evans (R-CO) recently discussed with Fox News Digital the urgent need for revised energy policies in the United States. He highlighted his commitment to challenging what he sees as detrimental green energy mandates, particularly those impacting his home state of Colorado.
Evans emphasized the increasing energy demands of modern life and emerging technologies. Citing his local electric cooperative, United Power, he noted their projected need for double to triple their current power output in the next two decades. This surge in demand is attributed not only to population growth but also to the rise of technologies like electric vehicles, regardless of whether their adoption is market-driven or mandated by the government.
He further pointed to Colorado's mandates, such as the electrification of oil and gas drilling rigs, as examples of policies that will significantly increase energy consumption. This, he argues, underscores the necessity for a more robust power grid and increased baseline energy generation.

Evans stressed the connection between energy and national security, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence and advanced computing. He argued that maintaining dominance in these fields requires a substantial and reliable energy supply.
Representing Colorado's 8th Congressional District, Evans expressed pride in the region's clean and environmentally responsible energy production, advocating for an "all-of-the-above" approach to meet the nation's energy needs.

Criticizing Democrat-led energy policies in Colorado and elsewhere, Evans argued that these policies, ironically, contribute to a larger carbon footprint than traditional energy sources. He pointed out that Colorado's electrical grid's carbon footprint is approximately 40% higher than that of natural gas, meaning that electric vehicles and public transportation powered by that grid generate more carbon emissions than their natural gas counterparts.
Looking ahead, Evans underscored the importance of Republican collaboration with the nominees for key positions at the Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Highlighting his existing relationship with Colorado's Chris Wright, the nominee for Secretary of Energy, Evans expressed optimism about working together to empower energy producers, create jobs, protect the environment through responsible energy production, and address the current affordability crisis.
