Senator Rand Paul Exposes Trillion-Dollar Government Spending Spree

Created: JANUARY 26, 2025

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has unveiled a report detailing what he describes as excessive government spending by the Biden administration, totaling over a trillion dollars. The report, dubbed the "Festivus Waste Report," highlights a range of expenditures that Senator Paul considers wasteful.

Among the items listed in the report are a $10,000 grant to "Beards on Ice," a drag show focused on climate change, and $20 million allocated to an Iraqi spin-off of Sesame Street, "Ahlan Simsim." The report claims the Sesame Street spin-off aimed to promote "inclusion" and "mutual respect."

The report also criticizes $1.5 million spent on motion sickness experiments involving kittens, which reportedly included strapping them to a rotating table and drilling holes into their skulls. Other expenditures mentioned include over $400,000 to New York University to study cocaine use in lonely rats and $12 million for a pickleball complex in Las Vegas.

Senator Paul questions the necessity of these expenditures, particularly the rat study, arguing against what he calls a "rat-wheel of waste." The report also highlights $3 million spent on "Girl-Centered Climate Action" in Brazil, which aims to empower young women as climate leaders.

The report further points to $10 billion spent on maintaining nearly empty buildings, $15.5 billion allocated to the electric vehicle industry, and $388,000 for a podcast about the evolution of magical beliefs and practices in the U.S. Finally, Senator Paul criticizes $2.1 million in funding for Paraguay's border security.
