Southeast Braces for Severe Storms, Excessive Heat Continues in Texas

Intense thunderstorms are predicted to impact parts of the Southeast and Florida, bringing the possibility of large hail, damaging winds, and heavy downpours. These storms could lead to flash flooding and isolated tornadoes.

Significant rainfall is anticipated across much of the Southeast this week, with some areas in the Carolinas and the Florida Panhandle potentially seeing up to 8 inches. A widespread area covering most of South Carolina, Georgia, and Northern Florida is expected to receive 3 to 5 inches of rain.

Texas and Louisiana are set for another week of extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. Coupled with high humidity, these conditions will make extended outdoor activity dangerous.

Numerous excessive heat warnings and advisories are currently in place across dozens of counties in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
