During Saturday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was visibly shaken after witnessing his teammate and friend, Tank Dell, suffer a severe leg injury. The injury, predicted to end Dell's season, deeply affected the team, especially Stroud, who was seen in tears and being comforted by teammates.
Following the game, Stroud shared how his faith helped him cope with the distressing situation. He emphasized his belief in God's plan and the importance of prayer, stating, "All you can do is really pray… I always know that I’m even up here because of the grace of Jesus… no matter what happens… I always have to praise my Lord and Savior." He acknowledged the difficulty of continuing to play after such an incident but strived to do his best.
The Texans players rallied around Dell, offering prayers before he was transported off the field. Stroud revealed they prayed for Jesus' peace and healing for Dell, both mentally and physically. He expressed his belief in a "miraculous God" and the power of healing. This injury is potentially the second season-ending one for Dell, who fractured his fibula in a game against the Denver Broncos the previous season.
Dell sustained the injury while catching a 30-yard touchdown pass early in the second half. He was subsequently taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
