The Seattle Pride Parade recently ignited a firestorm of controversy due to the participation of nude male cyclists, whose genitalia were fully exposed to attendees, including families with children. This incident has drawn significant criticism online, particularly regarding the presence of minors at the event.
Several Washington state Democrats, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, participated in the parade. Jayapal had previously promoted the event on social media, calling it one of her "favorite events of the year." Mayor Harrell also expressed support for the LGBTQIA+ community in a tweet following the parade.
Fox News Digital reached out to several Democratic officials, including Jayapal, Harrell, and state Representative Darya Farivar, for comment on the appropriateness of the nude cyclists at a family-friendly event. However, none of the officials nor the Seattle Pride Parade organizers responded to the inquiry.
This incident follows a growing trend of controversy surrounding Pride parades across the country. Several events in Democrat-led cities have faced criticism for sexually explicit displays and behavior in the presence of children. For example, a Pride parade in Minneapolis featured a scantily clad marcher twerking in front of children, and a "family-friendly" parade in West Hollywood included men engaging in a graphic BDSM act.
The increasing prevalence of such incidents has sparked debate about the appropriateness of explicit content at events intended for all ages.
