Twenty-five years after his first Lake Michigan crossing, Jim Dreyer, also known as "The Shark," is preparing for an even more ambitious swim. Starting August 1st, the 60-year-old will attempt an 82.5-mile swim from Milwaukee to Grand Haven, Michigan, without leaving the water. This impressive feat will serve as a fundraiser for the Chief Petty Officers Association, a group supporting enlisted members of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Dreyer expressed his admiration for the Coast Guard, stating, "I'm honored to support these life-saving guardians of Lake Michigan through this milestone swim." This isn't his first long-distance challenge. In 1998, he swam from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, to Ludington, Michigan. While intended to be a 50-mile swim, strong currents extended the journey to 65 miles. In a separate display of endurance, Dreyer swam for 51 hours in Lake St. Clair in 2013 while towing bricks.
