Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

A Georgia father has been reunited with his young daughter after a two-year ordeal that began when the child's mother and her boyfriend allegedly abducted the girl and fled to Mexico.

The U.S. Marshals Service, working in conjunction with the Smyrna Police Department and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, successfully located and rescued the child, also apprehending the alleged kidnappers.

The abduction occurred in April 2021 during a supervised visit between the then-4-year-old girl and her non-custodial mother, Andrea McCord, in Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia. McCord, aided by her boyfriend, Custodio Guerra, allegedly absconded with the child.

The child's father, James Williams, reported her missing, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for McCord and Guerra. The U.S. Marshals Service launched an international investigation, ultimately tracking the child and her alleged abductors to San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

On July 15, Mexican authorities arrested McCord and Guerra in Rioverde and secured the safe recovery of the now-6-year-old girl. The child and the suspects were promptly transferred to U.S. custody, and a heartwarming reunion between father and daughter took place at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta on July 16.
