A drive-by shooting in Philadelphia has left five people injured, occurring during a vigil for a man killed just weeks prior. The incident unfolded around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday on the 400 block of East Wyoming Avenue. Among the victims were a 68-year-old man shot in the face, a 17-year-old boy with a leg wound, a 24-year-old woman shot in the ankle, and two 23-year-olds, a man shot in the thigh and a woman shot in the leg. All five were transported to Temple University Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

The vigil was being held for a 20-year-old man who was fatally shot on July 5th. A 15-year-old boy was also injured in that earlier shooting. Authorities located what they believe to be the suspects' vehicle, a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, abandoned several blocks away. Inside, police discovered three handguns, one of which was identified as a ghost gun. Police are searching for three Black male suspects in connection with the drive-by.

While this incident is alarming, Philadelphia police data indicates a decrease in citywide shootings and homicides compared to the same period last year. As of July 16th, there have been 1,822 shooting incidents and 980 shooting victims, representing a decrease of 22.80% and 23.97% respectively. Homicides are also down by 22%, with 234 recorded as of July 18th.
