Florida Mother-Daughter Duo Arrested on Meth Charges During Traffic Stop

Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

In a surprising turn of events, a mother and daughter were apprehended in Florida on drug-related charges following a routine traffic stop. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey detailed the incident on Facebook, humorously referring to it as another episode of "Methed Up and Found Out."

The incident began when Deputy David Guzman stopped Michell Cannon and her daughter, Jazmine Cannon, in Port St. John for an expired vehicle tag. During the stop, deputies Guzman and Darien Fedro spotted drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, prompting a more extensive search. This search uncovered a lockbox containing a substantial quantity of a crystalline substance, later identified as methamphetamine, along with scales and additional drug paraphernalia.

Further investigation revealed approximately 17.6 grams of methamphetamine, attributed to Michell Cannon. She was subsequently taken into custody and booked on multiple charges, including methamphetamine trafficking, fentanyl possession, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $34,000.

Jazmine Cannon was also found to have a smaller amount of methamphetamine concealed in her bra, along with a used syringe in her pants. She faces charges of methamphetamine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, with a bond set at $2,500. Sheriff Ivey added a touch of levity to the situation, noting that the mother and daughter qualified for the "family plan" at the "Iron Bar Lodge" (the county jail), which entails a framed family booking photo.

Sheriff Ivey concluded his post with a stern warning to drug dealers in Brevard County, emphasizing the consequences they will face.
