During Pete Hegseth's Senate confirmation hearing for the position of Defense Secretary, several disruptions occurred as protesters voiced their concerns. A woman in military attire was escorted out after shouting about veteran suicides, homelessness, and military spending. An older man and another individual, also seemingly in fatigues, were removed by Capitol Police. One of the protesters criticized Hegseth's stance on the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Hegseth, a former Fox News host, has recently been addressing allegations of misconduct, including sexual misconduct, excessive alcohol consumption, and mismanagement of a veterans' non-profit. He has denied these claims and pledged to abstain from alcohol if confirmed.

Senator Tom Cotton questioned Hegseth about the protesters and their comments regarding the conflict in Gaza. Cotton expressed his support for Israel's actions in Gaza and asked Hegseth for his position. Hegseth responded by stating his support for Israel's efforts against Hamas.

Cotton also addressed a protester's comment about "20 years of genocide," seemingly referencing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hegseth defended the actions of U.S. troops, stating that they performed to the best of their abilities given the circumstances, while acknowledging the negative impact of the Biden administration's withdrawal from Afghanistan.
