Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban recently entertained the idea of a presidential run with NBA legend Charles Barkley during an appearance on "The Steam Room" podcast. When asked by host Ernie Johnson if having Barkley as a running mate would sway his decision, Cuban seemed receptive to the notion. Barkley confidently declared, "We’d win. We’d definitely win," a sentiment Cuban echoed, adding, "No question about it."
This playful exchange comes amidst speculation about potential Democratic candidates for the 2028 election following the party's recent losses. Names like California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro have been circulating as potential contenders.

Cuban's comments follow a period of pointed criticism directed at Donald Trump during the campaign's final stages. On "The View," he remarked that Trump was "never seen around strong, intelligent women ever." He later acknowledged the timing of this statement as unfortunate, given President Biden's recent controversial remarks about Trump supporters.

Following Trump's victory, Cuban publicly congratulated the president-elect on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Congrats @realDonaldTrump. You won fair and square." He also extended congratulations to Elon Musk, adding, "#Godspeed." Cuban has previously indicated a willingness to collaborate with Trump, referencing his past involvement in assisting the administration with healthcare and personal protective equipment initiatives. He reiterated his commitment to an "America first" approach.

Interestingly, Cuban has since deleted his X posts supporting Kamala Harris, for whom he served as a surrogate during her presidential bid.
