John F. Kennedy's grandson, Jack Schlossberg, voiced his concerns on social media regarding the temporary closure of the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, attributing the shutdown to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In a series of Instagram posts, the 32-year-old accused the DOGE of disseminating propaganda and expressed his dismay over the library's closure.
Schlossberg, who had previously announced his departure from social media, returned to share his views, emphasizing the library's importance in preserving historical knowledge, particularly his grandfather's contributions to space exploration. He urged his followers to speak out against what he perceived as governmental overreach.
The JFK Library confirmed its closure "until further notice," citing the dismissal of federal employees as the cause. The supporting foundation expressed devastation at the news and pledged continued support to the affected staff.
Schlossberg's online posts also included criticism of DOGE leader Elon Musk and President Trump's decision to declassify JFK files, which Schlossberg viewed as a political maneuver. He further criticized family members, including cousin "Kick" Kennedy and uncle Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for their perceived silence or actions.
Subsequent posts showcased Schlossberg in informal settings, some of which were later removed. Schlossberg's online presence has garnered a substantial following, with his video commentaries often taking center stage.
