In a unique campaign strategy, Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) is distributing pieces of the Berlin Wall to fellow lawmakers as he vies for the chairmanship of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. A photo obtained by Fox News Digital reveals a chip of the wall mounted on a display, accompanied by an inscription detailing its acquisition by then-State Senator Wilson on June 12, 1990, at the Brandenburg Gate. The inscription highlights the chip's symbolism, representing the fall of communism and the triumph of democratic capitalism. It further notes that Wilson obtained the piece while returning from observing Bulgaria's first free elections after decades of oppressive rule.

Wilson emphasized the chips' significance as symbols of "Peace through Strength" and reiterated his belief that he is the ideal candidate to collaborate with President Trump on a unified conservative foreign policy agenda if elected chair. He also shared a photograph of himself chipping away at the Berlin Wall in 1990.

This race for the committee gavel holds significant weight, particularly with Republicans poised to control key power positions in Washington. The chairman will play a crucial role in shaping U.S. foreign relations. Wilson is competing against Representatives Ann Wagner (R-MO), Darrell Issa (R-CA), and Brian Mast (R-FL), the subcommittee chair for Oversight & Accountability. Wilson currently chairs the subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia.

The current chairman, Michael McCaul (R-TX), is stepping down to comply with House Republicans' term limits for committee leadership. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve and his intention to support new leadership. Fox News Digital contacted Wilson's office for comment on this story.
